Wester Den

Wester Den is a former potato shed that has been transformed into fantastic 2 holiday properties.   Designed by local architect, Heinz Voigt who used all of his renowned art and imagination to create a unique and stunning setting.

Approaching from the north side of the building, guests can park in the 4 covered car ports.  The front still proudly displays its tattie shed past, but walk through the front door and open plan modernity delights guests with double height spaces, mezzanines and uplifting natural light flooding in from many directions.

The larger of the 2 properties, is Wester Den.  Accommodating up to 6 people, it has 2 king-size bedrooms and a master bedroom suite that can be interchanged from being a twin room, or as a super king-size. Whether it’s through the bifold door wall, the French windows, or balcony, the rear of the house opens seamlessly to the expansive glazed covered patio area and onto the private garden.  With South-easterly views, the sunlight is there all day, but better still are the uninterrupted view over fields and rolling hills to the coast.  From the outdoor seating area guests have front row seats of sunsets that open a beauty and inner calm that makes Wester Den a very, very special place.

The Studio at Wester Den is a smaller property better suited to those wishing a shorter stay, or as a base to travel from.  It has a king-sized bed situated on a spacious mezzanine level.  From your bed, stunning views over the Angus countryside can be seen through the large roof window.  The mezzanine also overlooks the double height living-room area, which has a mid-century modern feel.  The Studio also has a large ensuite and a well-supplied kitchenette.

Both Shirley and myself are hopefully the youngest retirees you will ever meet! You better meet us soon though because that crown will quickly slip.

With immaculate timing for the cost-of-living crisis we opened our first ever business, the holiday homes at Wester Den and the Studio at Wester Den, in September 2022.  Just prior to that, we moved to Angus from North East Fife.  We did so because we had instantly fallen in love with the converted potato shed that Wester Den and the Studio forms part of.  The look of the house, the views and sunsets are very special to us and although not easy to move away from friends and family, all of them could instantly see we had done the right thing.

The decision to move became even easier as we walked around stunning locations including cliffs, beaches and glens.  In doing so, we have started learning a history that has shaped not just Scotland but the world.  All of these were undiscovered gems to us and the whole Angus area just keeps on getting better as we continue to explore.  Some of the most glittering gems though are the people.  Especially the many artisans who proudly produce local food, drink and crafts.  The tastes are more intense and the care to prioritise quality means that showcasing them in our holiday homes, together with all that is good in Angus, is so important to us .

It made all the sense in the world then for us to open 2 holiday homes and share this with as many people as we can.  If you want to see for yourself, you will be made very welcome.
