Angus Coastal Tours

Join us on a day trip to explore the best that the Angus coast can offer – easy walking by beautiful beaches, sea bird colonies, coastal wildflowers, nesting puffins, the chance of seeing dolphins and you can even have some fun rockpooling!

Meeting near Carnoustie train station at 10am, we visit a number of the best locations along the coast to spot wildlife and enjoy some of the most beautiful beaches in Scotland. Where we go depends on where the dolphins have recently been spotted – we are members of the Angus Cetacean Sightings Group so get regular updates – but it will be three or four of the following top wildlife sites –  Carnoustie Beach, Easthaven Beach, Seaton Cliffs and Auchmithie Beach.  Each stop involves a guided wildlife walk to spot birds, sea mammals, wildflowers and appreciate the beautiful scenery, covering about 3 miles throughout the day so a reasonable degree of fitness is needed.. One of the sites has a small Puffin colony and we usually see them going in and out of their burrows during the breeding season.

Our small groups of up to six people means that our tours are friendly, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions of your guide. Binoculars and a telescope are provided. Bring a packed lunch and we will eat it on the beach looking at the beautiful view. Remember water, sun hat & sun protection. Sturdy shoes for walking and waterproofs are also essential. We return to Carnoustie around 4pm.

Species we expect to see (though not on every tour) include Puffin, Gannet, Eider Duck, Fulmar, Arctic tern, Guillemot, Razorbill, Kittiwake, Grey seal, Common seal, Bottlenose dolphin, Sea campion, Purple milk-vetch, Northern marsh orchid, Kidney vetch, Burnet moth.

Costs for the day are £80 pp, with a discount for families. If you have enough energy at the end of the day you can join us in a beach litterpick!
